Die neue wissenschaftliche Studie zeigt, dass die Wende hin zu 100% Erneuerbaren Energien mit demheutigen, konventionellen fossil-nuklearen System wirtschaftlich konkurrenzfähig wäre und die Treibhausgasemissionen noch vor 2050 auf Null reduzieren würde. Noch deutlicher wird der finanzielle Vorteil einer Energiewende unter Berücksichtigung des prognostizierten Beschäftigungswachstums, sowie indirekter wirtschaftlicher Vorteile, welche beispielsweise für Gesundheit, Sicherheit und die Umwelt geschaffen werden, jedoch in der Studie nicht einbezogen wurden.

Research and innovation vital to sustain wind energy cost reductions and keep industry in Europe

As the EU negotiates the details of its next flagship research and innovation programme – Horizon Europe – channelling resources to the right places will be critical to decarbonise and continue growing Europe’s economy. The Technology and Innovation Platform ETIPWind has released a series of recommendations on where the EU should focus in Research and Innovation funding in wind energy.
The €94bn Horizon Europe research and innovation programme will identify key challenges and priorities for research and innovation funding from 2021-2027. It is critical that a significant portion is allocated to climate action in general and to the ‘Climate, Energy & Mobility’ challenge in particular.

Local impact of wind energy at heart of new industry push for renewables ambition

WindEurope today launched a new “Local Impact, Global Leadership” toolkit that maps out the local economic benefits of wind energy.

With the future of renewables in Europe at stake in Clean Energy Package negotiations, now is a critical time to show policy-makers the local economic benefits of wind energy to make the case for more renewables ambition.

On a macro level, wind energy contributes €36bn to EU GDP, supports 263,000 jobs and generates €8bn of exports. But until now, the local micro-economic benefits were less well-known. Where are the jobs? Where are the turbine factories? Where’s the rest of the supply chain? How do communities and local councils benefit from having wind farms?

Wind wird zweitgrößte Stromquelle

Der jüngste Minusstrom-Rekordpreis von 83 Euro pro Megawattstunde (MWh) an der Strombörse war der negative Ausschlag eines ungeregelten Elektrizitätsmarktes mit meist in Dauervolllast betriebenen Braunkohlekraftwerken. Doch Verursacher war die erfreulich anwachsende Einspeisung aus Windparks, die 2017 zur unangefochtenen zweitgrößten Stromerzeugungsquelle geworden sind.

Als Sturmtief Herwart am vergangenen Wochenende über Nord- und Ostdeutschland sich austobte, hatten erstmals im gesamten Jahr 2017 auch die Braunkohlekraftwerke ihre Leistung deutlich drosseln müssen. Das ergeben die seit 2014 regelmäßig vom Forschungsinstitut Fraunhofer Ise bereitgestellten und bis 2011 zurückreichenden Energy-Charts . Doch die Reduktion der Einspeisung am Samstag und am Sonntag vom 24-Stunden-Niveau des Vortags bei 370 Gigawattstunden (GWh) auf 180 und dann sogar auf 90 GWh reichte nicht aus: Die Preise an der Börse waren bekanntlich auf einen Wert von minus 83 Euro pro Megawattstunde in den Keller gegangen: So viel erhielten die Abnehmer, wenn sie – bitte, bitte! – den im Verhältnis zum geringen Wochenendverbrauch zu viel ins Netz gedrückten Strom verbrauchten oder speicherten.

Immer mehr Unternehmen setzen sich Klimaschutzziele

Fast 90 Prozent der größten und die Umwelt am stärksten beeinflussenden Unternehmen wollen 2017 ihren CO2-Ausstoß senken. Das ergeben die Antworten von 1073 Unternehmen auf Anfrage der Londoner Klima- und Umweltschutzlobby CDP.
Die Zahl der Unternehmen mit selbstverordneten Umwelt- und Klimaschutzzielen steigt. Gemäß einer regelmäßigen Umfrage der Londoner Klima- und Umweltschutz Lobby CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project) haben sich 89 Prozent der größten Unternehmen Klimaschutzziele für das Jahr 2017 gesetzt, nach 85 Prozent 2016. Auch die Zahl der Unternehmen, die Klimaschutz in ihre mittel- und langfristige Planung aufgenommen haben, ist weiter gestiegen. 68 (55) Prozent planen ihre Emissionen bis ins Jahr 2020 und 20 (14) Prozent sogar bis ins Jahr 2030 und darüber hinaus.
