Can European funds help support cross-border cooperation on renewables?
WindEurope called for a European approach to the deployment of renewable energy deployment at a workshop organised by the European Commission on Thursday. The workshop explored how the EU’s financial framework for 2019-2023 can be aligned with the new post-2020 renewable energy laws, the so-called Clean Energy Package.
The Package – currently under negotiation and due to be wrapped up by the end of 2018 – sets out different options for cross-border cooperation. These include opening up national support schemes or setting up a European financing platform, whereby countries pitch in to a common fund for renewables projects in case the bloc fails to reach its 2030 target.

- Nordex Wind Turbines: VSB Commissions Flintbek Wind Farm in Schleswig-HolsteinFlintbek/Dresden (Germany) - The new Flintbek wind farm in the district of Rendsburg-Eckernförde has been officially commissioned. The operator is the VSB Group, a project developer for renewable energy and battery storage. Construction work on the two wind turbines with a total capacity of 11.4 MW began in summer 2024.
- Nordex Strenghtens Global Presence with New Orders, Early Type Certification and Market Launch in CanadaHamburg (Germany) - The Nordex Group has announced several new developments across its global operations. These include new turbine orders from Ukraine, Türkiye, Spain and Germany, the early type certification of its N175/6.X turbine, and the introduction of this turbine model to the Canadian market.
- Qualitas Focuses on Repowering: Qualitas Energy Secures Contracts for 43 MW of Onshore Wind PowerBerlin (Germany) - In the most recent tender round by the German Federal Network Agency in August, Qualitas Energy secured contracts for two repowering projects in Germany. The total capacity of the two wind farms exceeds 43 MW.
